NEW ORLEANS, La. – University of Colorado Colorado Springs Women's Cross Country Head Coach
Corey Kubatzky has been named the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) South Central Region Women's Coach of the Year, announced Thursday afternoon by the organization.
Two weeks after leading the Mountain Lions to their highest finish ever at the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Cross Country Championships – second place – Kubatzky and the Mountain Lions were after it again this past Saturday at the NCAA South Central Regional Championships in Pueblo, Colo. All five Mountain Lion scorers ran to all-region finishes (Top-25) as Kubatzky and the Mountain Lions scored 74 points to finish runner-up, also marking the program's best team finish at a regional championship.
Part of today's announcement included the Men's and Women's Coaches and Athletes of the Year across all eight Division II regions. Award winners were determined by a vote of USTFCCCA member coaches.
The Mountain Lions will close out the 2025 cross country season next Saturday, Nov. 22 at the NCAA Division II National Championship meet, hosted by the University of Wisconsin Parkside in Kenosha, Wis. The women's 6k race kicks off at 9 a.m. (MT) followed by the men's 10k race at 10:15 a.m. (MT).
