- UCCS threatened once again right at the close of the first frame, but again were denied just above the box as the break came without any scoring.
- The Mountain Lions earned a free kick just over 20 yards out from the Mavericks goal, and forced Mavericks keeper Keely Wieczorek to make the save at the left post. The Mountain Lions opened the second half with a noticeable difference in momentum from the first half, as several chances materialized in the early minutes of the second half.

- Just minutes later the Mountain Lions were back down deep as Luka Johnson had back-to-back opportunities with the first being blocked and the second being turned over on a cross into traffic.
- The Mavericks looked poised to score the first goal with just under 15 minutes to go, as Katie Lozano-Monjaraz leaked throught he UCCS back line but Nylah Mirshafiei read the play perfectly and came out to challenge and clear.
- Three minutes later Mirshafiei had it go off the crossbar on a shot from Lozano-Monjaraz again, as she recovered to her feet to save the second opportunity from Ellie Duncan as she scrambled to the far post.
