Location: CSUP ThunderBowl | Pueblo, Colo.
Elevation: 4,700 ft.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Redshirt freshman Jagger Zlotoff and redshirt senior Evan Graff put on a show in the men's 1500m race as they claimed the top two spots in the competition while each recording season-best times for the event. Zlotoff paced the group as he posted an altitude-converted time of 3:43.32 to grab a first-place finish, while Graff crossed the line in second place overall at a converted time of 3:44.04.
- Immediately after the conclusion of the men's 1500m race, sophomore Anna Fauske took to the track in the women's 1500m competition and managed to post a season best national qualifying time of her own, coming across the line in fourth place at an altitude-converted time of 4:26.05.
- Redshirt junior Anna Holland was the lone field athlete competing for the Mountain Lions on Saturday as she took part in the women's hammer throw for a second consecutive day. After notching her first national qualifying mark of the season yesterday at the Air Force Twilight Open with a throw of 53.00m, Holland came up just shy of besting her mark with a third-place toss of 51.65m.
BEYOND THE RESULTS
- With their season best times, Zlotoff and Graff both propelled themselves higher on the 2023 NCAA Division II Outdoor Performance List for the men's 1500m, with Zlotoff now ranking fourth in the nation and Graff sitting at sixth in the country.
- Fauske's improved time also moved her approximately ten spots up the national rankings on the outdoor performance list for the women's 1500m as she now ranks 25th in the nation.
UP NEXT
- The Mountain Lions will compete in two more last chance meets next weekend prior to the end of the outdoor qualifying period, with a select few distance runners heading back to Azusa, Calif., for the APU Franson Last Chance on May 12-13 and the remainder of the team travelling to Canyon, Texas, on May 14 for the WT Last Chance.
