Davis, McInnis Notch Second Team All-America Honors on Final Day of NCAA DII Outdoor Championships

EMPORIA, Kan. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs track & field team had a pair of men's student-athletes notch All-America honors on the third and final day of the 2026 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday with Brett Davis and KJ McInnis both landing on the Second Team in their respective events.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Redshirt junior KJ McInnis kicked off day three of the outdoor national championship meet with a strong performance in the men's triple jump final as he posted a mark of 15.14m, finishing 10th overall in the competition and earning Second Team All-America accolades for the first time in his collegiate career.
  • Junior Brett Davis wrapped up the meet with one more All-America nod for the Mountain Lions as he collected Second Team distinction in the men's 5,000m race, finishing 15th overall in the 22-person field with a time of 14:24.64.
BEYOND THE RESULTS
  • McInnis is just the third student-athlete in program history to collect All-America accolades in the men's outdoor triple jump, joining three-time First Team All-American Dakota Abbott (2021-23) and 2021 Second Team All-American William Ross.
  • Davis joins program-legend Afewerki Zeru as just the second student-athlete in program history to notch All-America accolades in the men's 5,000m race. Zeru earned First Team All-America honors on two occasions as the 2022 individual national champion and the fifth-place finisher in 2023.
