Men’s Golf in 12th Place after Round One of NCAA Regional Tournament

ROHNERT PARK, Calif. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's golf team started the South Central/West Regional Tournament Thursday afternoon with a nine-over par 297.

  • Location: Foxtail Golf Club | Rohnert Park, Calif.
  • Par | Yardage: 72 | 6,851 Yards
  • Place | Score: 12th Place | 297
 
FROM THE TEE
  • Brady Haake and Brandon Bervig are pacing the Mountain Lions after round one and are tied for 27th place with a one-over par 73.  After hitting a bogey on his first hole of the tournament, Haake rebounded to sink a birdie on his third hole.  He added three more birdies on the back nine and added nine pars on the round.   Bervig tallied three birdies in his first 18 holes of action and netted 11 pars on the day.
  • Both of Barrett Jones' birdies on Thursday came on the front nine that saw him go one-under par.  Jones, who finished the day with a two-over par 74, is tied for 36th place.
  • After shooting five-over par on the front nine with two double bogeys and a birdie, James Perry settled in on the back to shoot an even par.  Perry's 77 (+5) put him in a tie for 74th place.
  • Sitting outside of scoring position for UCCS and just one stroke behind Perry is Travis Bossio (T90).  Bossio nailed 11 pars on the day and finished the opening round with a birdie on par 4 No. 18.
 
TOURNAMENT LEADERS
  • Colorado Christian University leads all 20 teams in the regional tournament.  The Cougars came out firing a seven-under par 281 and hold an eight-stroke lead over second place Western New Mexico University.
  • On top of the 108-player leaderboard is CCU's Peyton Jones who carded a six-under par 66.
 
UP NEXT
  • UCCS will tee off round two on Friday at 12:40 p.m. (MT).
