BOULDER CITY, Nevada – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's golf team carded a 297 (+9) in the third and final round of the 2023 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Men's Golf Championship Tournament, earning a third-place finish after a three-round score of 856 (-8). This year's conference championship tournament was played at the Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder City, Nevada. Entering today's round, the Mountain Lions were in second place with a 559 (-17) after opening the tournament with a 275 (-13) followed by a 284 (-4) in round two.

FROM THE TEE
- Travis Bossio paced the Mountain Lions with a solid third place finish, posting a 211 (69, 71, 71) through three rounds. Bossio, who was the only Mountain Lion shoot under par today as well as all three rounds, shot a 35 on the back nine that featured three birdies in four holes. He notched a team high 12 pars today and four birdies.
- Brandon Bervig earned a top 10 finish behind his 54-hole score of 214 (-2). Bervig sank his second eagle of the tournament on No. 4 and added three birdies on the back nine to card a one-over par on each half of the course.
- Also chipping in his second eagle of the tournament was Brady Haake. After shooting a one-under par behind an eagle and birdie on the front nine, Haake carded a four-over par on the final nine holes to finish in a tie for 12th place with a 216 (70, 71, 75).
- Rounding out the Mountain Lions' scorers is James Perry (tied-18th, 217). Perry accounted for 10 pars and four birdies in the final round.
- Just outside of scoring for UCCS was Barrett Jones, who notched a 76 today, bringing his tournament total to 218 (+2), and a tie for 22nd place.
TOURNAMENT LEADERS
- Colorado Christian University and Colorado State University Pueblo tied for the best score in the nine-team tournament, putting up a respectable 849 (-15).
- CCU's Xavier Bighaus held on to his individual lead to best all 40 golfers with a seven-under par 207.
BEYOND THE SCORECARD
- Bervig and Haake were one of seven golfers to hit two eagles in the tournament.
- Bossio (211), Bervig (214) and Haake (216) each recorded their best score and finish at a RMAC championship tournament.
- Bossio was second in the field in par 4 scoring (4.00, E) and he registered a team high 36 pars and 12 birdies.
- Bervig's 2.83 (-2) on par 3s was the lowest of any golfer. He added 29 pars and 11 birdies to his tournament total.
UP NEXT
- The Mountain Lions will wait for Friday's NCAA Division II selections when the top 10 teams from the NCAA South Central region will be announced.
