HOW IT HAPPENED
- The series finale started with a scoreless outing for both teams in the opening frame. Caleb Stubbings tallied a single followed by a double to left field by Brad Madison in the Mountain Lions first action at the plate before Hunter Owens retired the side.
- UCCS went three-up and three-down in the second inning as the Roadrunners snagged a run in the bottom of the second frame for a 1-0 lead.
- Ronan Hella put down a bunt for a leadoff single and moved to third base on Macully Sehr's single, but the Roadrunners kept UCCS from plating a run after three innings of offense. Marko Sipila started the third inning on the mound for UCCS and gave up an RBI double on the second batter he faced, before Jake Williams hit a three-run shot over the left field fence to boost the home team's lead to 5-0.
- The Roadrunners tacked on four more runs to their lead in the fourth and fifth innings before Luis Samorano and Madison manufactured the Mountain Lions first run of the game. Replacing Kit Wigington in left field, Samorano led off the sixth inning with a double and quickly advanced to third base on a wild pitch. Madison, who had two doubles under his belt already for the day, nailed the ball to left centerfield on an 0-2 count to drive home Samorano and cut into the Roadrunners lead, 9-1.
- An insurance run by MSU Denver in the bottom of the sixth inning put the Mountain Lions in a nine-run hole, 10-1. Unable to plate any more runs in the top half of the seventh frame, the Roadrunners notched their 11th run of the game on a miscue throw by pitcher Joe McDermott. With one out and a runner in scoring position, Williams knocked out his second home run of the game, giving the home team a 13-1 lead, ending the game on the 12-run rule.
