INSIDE THE MATCHUP
Final: UCCS 3, CSUP 26
Records: UCCS (9-16, 2-6 RMAC) | CSUP (10-13, 6-2 RMAC)
Facility | Location: Mountain Lion Park | Colorado Springs, Colo.
All-Time Series: The Mountain Lions hold a record of 13-13 all-time against CSU Pueblo.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Tuesday's non-conference matchup started off on a sour note with six of the first eight batters in the Thunderwolves' lineup reaching base to give CSU Pueblo an early 4-0 lead. With two outs in the top of the first frame, a dropped fly ball in right field by Hayden Iverson extended the inning and the Thunderwolves would take advantage of the miscue by plating seven more runs in the inning to stretch their lead to 11-0.
- After the Mountain Lions got on the scoreboard with a leadoff home run from Iverson in the bottom of the first inning, CSU Pueblo continued to swing the bats as they scored three more runs in each of the third and fourth innings to push the lead to 17-1.
- The top of the fifth inning would see more CSU Pueblo runs come across the plate as the Thunderwolves took advantage of two walks, two hit by pitches, and three hits to add six more runs to their total and take a 23-1 advantage.
- CSU Pueblo continued to benefit from the free passes in the top of the sixth inning as the first three batters in the frame drew walks and each of them came around to score with the score being extended to 26-1.
- The Mountain Lions would plate a pair of runs in the home half of the sixth inning on an RBI single by Cam Kennedy and an RBI groundout from Luis Samorano, but neither team would score in the seventh inning as the game ended via run-rule with CSU Pueblo claiming a 26-3 win.

- The Mountain Lions recorded nine hits in the ballgame, led by Iverson and Caleb Stubbings with two hits apiece.

- Seven different Mountain Lion relievers followed Reynolds out of the bullpen to pitch the final 6.1 innings pitched of the ballgame while allowing a combined 16 earned runs. Garrett Shriver was a bright spot as he tossed a scoreless seventh inning while allowing just one hit.
