HOW IT HAPPENED
- As one of 68 runners in a highly competitive men's mile race at Boston University, Graff went on to record a blazing time of 4:05.08 to place 14th in the race. Although his time was shy of his season best converted time of 4:00.22 that he established at the Colorado Running Company UCCS Invite, the Montrose, Colo., native's raw time registers as a new personal best and breaks his own UCCS men's indoor school record for the event by more than two seconds, with the previous record being 4:07.48.
- In Golden, freshman Daryn Ofori-Kuragu was the first Mountain Lion in action as he clocked a personal best raw time of 6.94s in the prelim of the men's 60m dash to qualify for the final with the second-fastest time in the 26-person field. In the final, Ofori-Kuragu came back to match his previous time at 6.94s, which was good for a third place finish in the race. His altitude-converted time of 6.96s sits just one tenth of a second away from the NCAA Division II provisional standard for the event.
- UCCS had a pair of student-athletes racing in the women's mile and saw both of them collect personal best times as redshirt freshman Brooke Moss took sixth place with a time of 5:20.77 and redshirt sophomore Rachel Goodrich placed 11th at a time of 5:32.99.
- In the women's 800m, redshirt junior Erika Timbang came less than a second away from her personal best for the event as she clocked a time of 2:23.80 for a ninth place finish.
BEYOND THE RESULTS
- Graff's mile time of 4:05.08 registers as an NCAA qualifying time, but came up just short of his season-best converted time of 4:00.22 that currently ranks third overall on the NCAA Division II provisional qualifying list for the 2022-23 indoor season.
UP NEXT
- The Mountain Lions return to action with a full squad next weekend as they make the trip east to Pittsburg, Kan., for the 8th Annual Indoor Gorilla Classic at Pittsburg State University on Feb. 10-11.
