DENVER, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's golf team opened their fall season on the right foot on Sunday with the Mountain Lions in fourth place at a team score of 363 (+3), led by junior
Brady Haake who is tied for fifth. Two teams have yet to finish their rounds and are set to complete their first round tomorrow morning.

FROM THE TEE
- Haake's hot start began with an impressive three birdies to begin his day as he recorded a three-under par on the front nine. He managed to stay under par for the round after birdieing the par-4 11th and par-5 12th before draining his eighth birdie of the round on the par-4 16th to notch even-par on the back-nine, finishing with a first-round score of 69 (-3).
- Redshirt senior Barrett Jones joins Haake in the top-10 as he carded a two-under par 70 through his first 18 holes of play to sit T9. Jones finished one-under par on both the front and back-nine with a total of 10 pars and five birdies, including a seven-hole stretch starting at the par-4 eighth where he went five-under par.
- Junior college transfer James Perry carded his first round as a Mountain Lion by registering 10 pars and three birdies for two-over par 72 to currently be in T31. Perry found a rhythm on the par-4 eighth and par-5 ninth by making birdie on both holes as he closed out the day with a par on the par-4 18th.
- Both Travis Bossio and Lucas Howell finish Sunday in T39 after turning in a three-under par 75. Howell tallied five birdies for the day including four on the front-nine as Bossio finished the round with a total of 12 pars.
- Redshirt Brandon Bervig (T54) also notched 12 pars on the day to help finish at a 78 (+6) as sophomore Trevor Grenier carded a one-over 73 competing as an individual to be in T27 following seven consecutive pars to conclude round one.
TOURNAMENT LEADERS
- Four golfers are tied for first place at four-under par with West Texas A&M University's Luis Palomo and Kolten Baber, Fort Lewis College's Nicholas Krantz, and Colorado Mesa University's Peter Grossenbacher shooting a 68.
- At a team score of 354 (-6), West Texas A&M currently leads the 11-team field.
BEYOND THE SCORECARD
- The Mountain Lions pace the tournament in par-5 scoring at eight-under par. Brady Haake leads all 75 golfers with a three-under par on par-5's as Barret Jones and James Perry are each tied for second at two-under par.
- After an eight-birdie round, Haake officially has registered the second most birdies in the tournament and helps push the Mountain Lions for the third most as a team at 24.
- Tied for the fifth most pars in the tournament with 13 is Trevor Grenier.
