COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – On Friday, the NCAA announced the field for the Division II Men's Golf Championships regional selections as the University of Colorado Colorado Springs will be the eighth seed in the South Central region.

The Mountain Lions are one of 20 teams that will compete in the South Central/West Regional, which will be held May 5-7 at the Pueblo Country Club in Pueblo, Colo.

There are a total of 80 teams and 32 student-athletes competing as individuals at four super regional tournaments.

At a minimum, the top three teams and the top two student-athletes not with a team from each regional will advance to the finals May 16-20 at TPC Michigan in Detroit, Michigan.

The remaining eight team berths will be allocated based on the regions represented in the prior year's head-to-head medal play portion of the championships, with the maximum number of teams from a given region capped at seven. The finals will be hosted by Wayne State (Michigan) and the Detroit Sports Commission.

UCCS Men's Golf recently comes off a second-place finish at the RMAC Championships in Chandler, Ariz. where UCCS freshman Rio Newcombe claimed the individual RMAC title. The Mountain Lions are set to make their first regional appearance as a team in four years with their last team appearance coming in 2018.
