DENVER, Colo. – Facing the fifth ranked team in Division II, the University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's lacrosse team fell to Regis University Tuesday evening in Denver, Colo., 17-5.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The first 20 minutes of action was vastly different from the final 20 minutes Tuesday evening. Regis netted the first goal of the game 39 seconds from the opening draw before Julia Patrick knotted the game on an unassisted goal at 10:19. Despite being outshot 15-3 in the opening stanza, the Mountain Lions' Madison McGriff made six saves as the Mountain Lions trailed by just two goals after the opening stanza, 3-1. The Rangers' Hannah Krats scored all three goals for RU in the first quarter.
- Natalie Church recorded the first assist of the game when she found Patrick for the Mountain Lions second goal of the contest, bringing UCCS within one goal of the Rangers, 3-2, with 9:18 left in the first half.
- Regis netted back-to-back goals within a 17-second span and increased their lead to four, 6-2, before Church connected with Audrey Napp just 29 seconds left in the half.
- Leading 6-3 at halftime, the Rangers notched their second player-up goal two minutes into the second half before Patrick scored her third goal of the afternoon in the 35th minute, bringing Regis' lead back down to three, 7-4.
- Hannah Mill broke through the Rangers defense with five minutes left in the third quarter to score her first goal of the game. Mill's goal would prove to be the last score for UCCS as the Rangers finished the final 20 minutes of the game netting eight straight goals.
GAME STATISTICS
- Patrick accounted for three of the Mountain Lions five goals. She led the team with seven shots and five shots on goal.
- UCCS recorded three assists against Regis with Church (two) and Carr accounting for all three.
- Madison McGriff played all 60 minutes in goal, making 16 saves and earning a .485 save percentage while picking up a team high five ground balls.
- Kathryn Kossack chipped in two ground balls and caused a turnover while Holly Sodomka chipped in two draws and two ground balls.
- Regis' Hannah Krats scored a sock trick, finishing the game with seven goals, an assist and nine shots.
- The Mountain Lions were outshot, 46-17 (33-13 shots on goal). Regis won 19 of the 26 draws and picked up 25 ground balls.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- McGriff's 16 saves are the second most in program history. She now holds the top three spots in the record book for most saves in game, including the top two spots with 19 saves vs. CSU Pueblo (April 28, 2021) and Colorado Mesa (May 7, 2021).
