LAS VEGAS, Nev. – University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's golf team concluded a breezy day two of the Las Vegas Desert Classic on Monday with the Mountain Lions shooting a 313 (+23) to place 18
th heading into the third round.

FROM THE TEE
- Improving four strokes from his day one score was sophomore Brady Haake (T61) who came out to shoot three-over par (75) for a 154 through two rounds of play. A bogey started the day off for Haake but the Gilbert, Ariz. native settled in after that by recording eight straight pars and wrapping up his round by shooting two-over par with birdies on the par-5 ninth and par-5 14th.
- Barrett Jones (T68) fared better in day two after carding a four-over par to be one stroke back from Haake on the day and for the tournament (155). Jones (T68) matched his birdie count of two from yesterday but upped his par count to 12 for an improved 76 on Monday as the redshirt junior drained birdies on the par-3 10th and par-4 13th.
- Matching his first round 80 (+8) was freshman Rio Newcombe (T83) who birdied the par-5 ninth for the second consecutive day and shot two-over par in his front-nine.
TOURNAMENT LEADERS
- University of Missouri-St. Louis still maintains the lead after carding a nine-over par 297 to sit at a three-over par for the tournament (579).
- Kittiphong Phaithuncharoensuk of Texas A&M University-Commerce overtook the lead on Monday after shooting one-under par (72) to be four-under (140) for the tournament.
BEYOND THE SCORECARD
- Both Barrett Jones and Brady Haake are tied for the fifth-best scoring on par-3's at an even-par.
- Travis Bossio (T80) is tied for the seventh best par-5 scoring at three-under par after notching his fourth par-5 birdie of the tournament during today's round.
- Lucas Howell (T86) claimed four birdies in the second round and paces the Mountain Lions with six birdies for the tournament.
UP NEXT
- The third and final day of the Las Vegas Desert Classic is slated for a shotgun start tomorrow morning at 9:30 a.m. (MT).
