AUSTIN, Texas – On Wednesday morning, senior Kolby Raineri of the University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's soccer team was named as a College Sports Communicators (CSC) Third Team All-American, becoming just the fourth player in program history to earn Academic All-America distinction.
 
The 2022 Academic All-America® Men's Soccer Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom with a minimum grade-point-averages of 3.5 or higher. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes soccer honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA - for each gender.
 
Raineri, who was one of three men's soccer student-athletes to earn CSC Academic All-District honors for the 2022 season, makes his first career appearance as a CSC Academic All-American after posting a 3.52 GPA as a Business Administration major. The Ankeny, Iowa, native played over 1,400 minutes on the pitch for the Mountain Lions this season and went on to record a career year with 11 goals and eight assists for 30 points. As one of the most prolific strikers in the conference, Raineri also topped the league with his 3.74 shots per game and 1.63 shots on goal per game while posting a .437 shot on goal percentage. The fourth-year forward finishes the season having garnered First Team All-RMAC and RMAC All-Academic First Team honors on the conference level while also picking up First Team All-Region distinction from both D2CCA and United Soccer Coaches. With the Academic All-America award, Raineri joins Alex VonHolle (Second Team - 2018, First Team – 2019), James Roberts (Second Team – 2014), and Mash Shaswar (Third Team – 2012) as the only student-athletes in men's soccer program history to receive the honor.
