COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – After five highly successful seasons with the Mountain Lions, University of Colorado Colorado Springs Men's Soccer Associate Head Coach Keith Buderus has been named the head coach of the men's soccer program at William Jewell College, as announced by the institution on Friday morning.

In his fifth and final season as member of the UCCS men's soccer coaching staff in 2025, Buderus played an instrumental role in helping the team attain one of the most memorable seasons in program history. With Buderus' guidance on and off the soccer pitch, the Mountain Lions secured their first RMAC regular season and tournament titles, won their first two national tournament games, and advanced to the third round of the NCAA Tournament for the first time in team history.

"It has been a true privilege to coach at UCCS for the last five seasons," said Buderus. "I am beyond grateful for the time I have spent in Colorado Springs. UCCS is a special place. I am proud of the accomplishments we have attained, the culture we have created, and the memories we made together. To the players, coaches, and admin that I have had the good fortune to work with, thank you from the bottom of my heart. I wish nothing but the best to the future players and coaches. I am excited to see them continue the tradition of excellence that has been established here.

"I would specifically like to thank Head Coach Lewis Wilcox for believing, trusting, and developing me throughout my tenure. I am so grateful and humbled to be a part of this program's history and will fondly remember our time together. Thank you to Executive Director of Athletics Nathan Gibson, our UCCS athletic administration, our alumni, our coaches, and all the student-athletes I've been able to work with over the past five seasons. I will always cherish my time in Colorado Springs. Go Mountain Lions!"

With Buderus on the staff over the past five seasons, the UCCS men's soccer team experienced unprecedented success as they posted an exceptional 55-28-19 overall record while emerging as a perennial threat at the conference and national levels. Throughout Buderus' tenure at UCCS, the Mountain Lions earned their first three selections to the NCAA Division II Men's Soccer Tournament (2023-25) and won their first RMAC Regular Season and Tournament Championships (2025). The Fort Collins, Colo. native also helped the UCCS men's soccer team secure a wide array of conference, regional, and national awards throughout his tenure at UCCS, including 25 All-RMAC selections, four RMAC major awards, 19 D2CCA/United Soccer Coaches All-Region honors, two D2CCA All-America selections, eight RMAC All-Academic First Team honors, eight College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District accolades, and three CSC Academic All-America selections.

"Keith has been an integral part of what we have built here over the last few years," said UCCS Head Men's Soccer Coach Lewis Wilcox. "He has been a loyal coach, friend, and mentor to our athletes and staff. He has been largely responsible for the success of the team, and he has helped us establish ourselves as a consistent contender on the national stage. I am excited to see the impact he will make at William Jewell, and I would like to sincerely thank him for the amazing memories we created together during his time in Colorado Springs."

Buderus will become the 20th head coach in Cardinal men's soccer history and is officially set to begin his post on Feb. 9, 2026.
