Men's Golf Garners Fifth Place Finish at Ryan Palmer Foundation Invite

CANYON, Texas – UCCS Men's Golf holds on to place fifth at the Ryan Palmer Foundation Invitational on Tuesday after Brady Haake helped the Mountain Lions finish three-over par (846) by placing tied for eighth place individually.

FROM THE TEE
  • Brady Haake rounded out his day two at a one-over par 71 to finish two-under par for the tournament (208) and secure his top-10 finish at tied for eighth. Haake began his day with seven consecutive pars as he drained back-to-back birdies on the par-4's ninth and 10th then closed out the third round by making six straight pars.
  • Barrett Jones stamps a one-over par 71 in his final round after notching four birdies on the front-nine, including a three-hole stretch where he birdied the par-4's seventh, eight, and ninth. The redshirt senior finished at even-par (210) and slid into a tie for 14th place.
  • Also adding a third-round score of a 71 is fellow redshirt senior Travis Bossio (T44) who shot even-par on the back-nine with a birdie on the par-16th and followed it up with consecutive pars to come in at six-over par (216) for the tournament.
  • Lucas Howell bounced back in his final round by starting his day off with an eagle on the par-4 first and proceeded to make seven straight pars. On the back-nine, Howell added two more birdies and five pars to reach even-par, bringing his total to a 213 (+3) and tied for 29th standing.
  • James Perry (T62) wrapped up Tuesday with a three-over par 73 to end the tournament at 11-over par (221) after tallying 14 more pars and a birdie on the par-3 second.
 
TOURNAMENT LEADERS
  • Oklahoma Christian University's Exequiel Rodriguez and Oscar Nikku shared the individual championship after carding a six-under par (204).
  • OCU also took home the team title by carding a 17-under par (823) to win the 17-team tournament.
 
BEYOND THE SCORECARD
  • The Mountain Lions finish with the third-best team par-4 score at four-over par with Barrett Jones posting the tournament's fourth-best score (-4) and Brady Haake tying the 10th-best par-4 score (-1).
  • James Perry registered even-par on par-3's in the tournament which tied for the ninth lowest score in the field as the junior also notched 41 pars to tie for the tournament's second most.
  • As a team, UCCS claimed 178 total pars for the third most pars in the 17-team field as Haake added 39 pars to tie for the fifth most.
  • Barrett Jones made an impressive 15 birdies in the tournament which tied him for the second most birdies made.
 
UP NEXT
  • UCCS Men's Golf will travel to Seaside, Calif. later this week to compete in the two-day Otter Invitational starting Monday, Oct. 10, hosted by California State University Monterey Bay at Bayonet Golf Club.
