UCCS Finishes Day One of Ryan Palmer Foundation Invite With Fifth Place Standing and Two Top-10 Individuals

CANYON, Texas – UCCS Men's Golf closed out the first two rounds of West Texas A&M University's Ryan Palmer Foundation Invitational at three-over (563) to claim a fifth-place standing on Monday as Brady Haake (5) and Barrett Jones (T7) sit inside the top-10 individually.

FROM THE TEE
  • Working their way to under-par through the opening two rounds was Brady Haake and Barrett Jones (T7). Haake currently leads the Mountain Lions and settles in the top-5 at fifth place after carding a three-under par with an even-par 70 followed up by a stellar 67. The junior made seven birdies with five in the second round as Haake backed it up with 25 pars on Monday to bring in a 137. At one-under par (139) is Jones who also recorded an even-par 70 that included six birdies as the senior came back to fire of a one-under par (69) with five birdies in the round, and 18 total pars for the day.
  • Coming in at three-over par (143) is Lucas Howell (T33) who started his day off with a one-under par 69 after registering 11 pars and four birdies. Howell concluded his day by tacking on another two birdies in round two and tallying 21 pars in day one.
  • Rounding out UCCS' top-4 is Travis Bossio (T42) as the redshirt senior turned in a five-over par 145 that included 25 pars between the first two rounds, and seven consecutive pars to conclude his day.
  • Junior James Perry posts a 148 (+8) to sit in T62 after bagging an impressive 16 pars in round two as he also closed out the day with a par on each hole of the back-nine.
 
TOURNAMENT LEADERS
  • Oklahoma Christian University's Exequiel Rodriguez leads all 90 individuals at the Ryan Palmer Foundation Invitational with a six-under par (134).
  • As a team, OCU also currently holds on to the team-lead by pacing the 17-team field with a 10-under par (550).
 
BEYOND THE SCORECARD
 
  • The Mountain Lions sit atop the team par-4 scoring at a tournament leading two-over par with Barrett Jones boasting the third best par-4 score of four-under par as Brady Haake sits tied for sixth-best at two-under par.
  • UCCS also ranks fifth in both pars and birdies made through two rounds with 116 pars and 28 birdies. James Perry is tied for the fifth most pars (27) as Jones put up 11 birdies to tie for the most in the tournament.
  • Lucas Howell cards a new career-low round after shooting a 69 to open the day as Jones ties his career-low round with a 67 in the second round of play.
