Men's Golf Cards Lowest Round of the Season to Finish Tied for 11th at HPU Shark Shootout

WAHIAWA, Hawaii – University of Colorado Colorado Men's Golf makes a 12-stroke turnaround on day two with a season-best five under par (283) at the Southwest Airlines Hawaii Pacific University Shark Shootout as the Mountain Lions finish tied for 11th with a 578 (295, 283).

FROM THE TEE
  • James Perry was stellar in his second round after carding a four-under par 68 to climb his way to a team-best two-under par (142), tying for 20th. Perry was able to climb up the leaderboard quickly and make a six-stroke turnaround from yesterday by recording 12 pars, an eagle on the par-5 15th, and four birdies, including consecutive birdies on the par-4's seventh and eighth to finish the day.
  • Also settling in to make an improvement on Tuesday was Brandon Bervig (T45) and Barrett Jones (T51) who both came out to shoot a one-under par 71. Bervig made four birdies and registered 13 pars for the day as he began his day with a birdie on the par-5 11th then tackled the front-nine by notching a two-under par with two birdies and seven pars to post a 147 (+3). Jones reached his under-par round by carding an even-par on the back-nine and one-under par on the front by draining three straight birdies followed by making par to close out the tournament with a four-over par 148.
  • Brady Haake (T23) and Travis Bossio (T51) each turned in a one-over par 73 as Haake finished with the second-best Mountain Lion score at 143 (-1) with a team-high 15 pars on Tuesday. Bossio recovered in his round two by improving two strokes from Monday as the redshirt senior bagged a one-under par on the front nine after tallying two birdies and six pars to claim a 148 (+4).
 
TOURNAMENT LEADERS
  • Chris Ebster from Stanislaus State University led all individuals after shooting seven-under par (65) on Tuesday and finishing nine-under par (135).
  • Chico State University takes the team title and tiebreaker over Stanislaus State with an 18-under par (558).
 
BEYOND THE SCORECARD
  • UCCS came back to shoot three-over par on par-4's to tie for the tournament's fifth best score.
  • UCCS tallied the third most pars (117) with Brady Haake pacing the team with 25 pars.
  • James Perry was one of 13 individuals to record an eagle in the tournament. Perry also records his lowest round of the season and lowest individual round by any Mountain Lion this season (68, -4).
  • The Mountain Lions notch their lowest team score of the season with Tuesday's five-under par (283).
