Mountain Lions Finish with 12th Place Standing in Otter Invitational

SEASIDE, Calif. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's golf teams cards an 894 (309, 290, 295) after shooting seven-over par on Tuesday to finish in 12th place at the Otter Invitational, hosted by University of California State University Monterey Bay.

FROM THE TEE
  • Brady Haake (T38) found a rhythm on Tuesday as the junior made five birdies to notch an even-under par 72, including three consecutive birdies on the par-5's 18th and first with the third straight birdie coming on the par-4 second. His third-round score of 72 was his best of the tournament as Haake finished with a six-over par 223 (78, 73, 72).
  • Barrett Jones (T38) closes the Otter Invitational out with 10 pars and three birdies to finish with a 74 for the day and 223 for the tournament to tie Haake for the best Mountain Lion score.
  • Both Brandon Bervig (T59) and James Perry (T59) card 12-over par in the tournament as Bervig turned in a third-round score of 76 with 10 pars and Perry carding an 80 with nine pars.
  • Travis Bossio (T70) made another jump in improvement on Tuesday as he shot a stellar three-under par on the course's back-nine while making birdie in four out of his last five holes to bag a one-over par 73 on the day and 230 (82, 75, 73) for the tournament.
 
TOURNAMENT LEADERS
  • California State University Monterey Bay's Simon Bjorken shoots a three-under par in round three to finish at 11-under par and claim the individual title.
  • Barry University closes the tournament out at eight-under par (856) to take first place.
 
BEYOND THE SCORECARD
  • UCCS finished with the second-best par-5 score in the tournament with a 19-under par.
  • With 49 birdies, the Mountain Lions tied for the tournament's third most birdies.
  • Barrett Jones helped push UCCS to the second-best par-5 score with the best individual par-5 score after carding a 10-under par through three rounds.
  • Jones also finished with 14 birdies to tie for the Otter Invitational's fourth most birdies.
 
UP NEXT
  • UCCS Men's Golf is back next week with two tournaments in five days as the Mountain Lions head off to Hawaii to compete in the Hawaii Pacific University Shark Shootout from Oct. 25-26, followed by University of Hawaii at Hilo's Dennis Rose Invite from Oct. 28-29.
