GOODYEAR, Ariz. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's golf team is tied for ninth place after two rounds on Monday at the Western New Mexico University Mustang Intercollegiate. The Mountain Lions shot a solid 290 in the opening round but added nine strokes in the second round for a two-round total of 589. Monday's highlights include a tournament best 114 pars along with 22 birdies and two eagles.

Travis Bossio is leading the Mountain Lions after shooting a 145 on Monday. Bossio, who is tied for 23
rd overall, opened the day with a 71 behind three birdies. He strung together 14 straight holes of making par or birdie in round one. He followed that round with a 74 that featured two birdies and another 12 straight holes of making par or better.
One stroke behind Bossio is
Brandon Bervig who is tied for 28
th place. Bervig recorded the lowest round of the day for UCCS as he opened the tournament with a two-under par 70. On just his second hole of the day, Bervig drained an eagle on hole No. 2 (par 5). He added three birdies in each round to finish the day with a 146 (70, 76).
In the middle of the Mountain Lion scoring squad is
Brady Haake's 149 (74, 75). Sitting in a tie for 41
st place, Haake made par on 16 holes in round one, which was followed by a birdie in round two and an eagle on par 5 hole No. 14.
In a tie for 48
th place is
Isaac Spillum (75, 76) and
Lucas Howell (77, 74) with a 151. Three of Spillum's four birdies today came in the second round while Howell was the only Mountain Lion to improve his second-round score, improving by three strokes from the opening round.
TOURNAMENT LEADERS
Texas-Permian Basin is leading all 13 teams with a two-under par 568. The top three individuals in the tournament hail from Grand Canyon University. Matthew Braley of GCU leads all 78 golfers with a nine-under par 135.

UCCS will conclude the WNMU Mustang Intercollegiate on Tuesday at 7 a.m. starting on hole No. 10.
