PUEBLO, Colo. – Senior
Isaac Spillum led the University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's golf team to as second place finish at the Colorado State University Pueblo Southern Colorado Masters, held at Pueblo Country Club. The Mountain Lions shot 279, the lowest by any team, to finish the three-round tournament with an 853 (279, 295, 279). Spillum finished fifth overall with a 213 (70, 73, 70).

Spillum moved up six spots from yesterday's 11
th place standing. He shot a 70 over the final 18 holes of the tournament, carding four birdies today which led to a solid 33 score on the front nine. He tallied nine birdies and 36 pars in the two-day tournament. He led the tournament field in par 4 scoring (4.00 average) and tied with teammate
Lucas Howell for the most pars made (36).
Travis Bossio, who entered the day tied with Spillum, finished one shot behind his teammate for seventh place after he shot an even par 71 today. All four of Bossio's birdies today came on the back nine as he finished the tournament with a 214 (69, 74, 71) and 13 birdies.
Brandon Bervig placed third for the Mountain Lions in scoring and in a tie for 15
th overall with a 217 (74, 73, 70). Bervig drained four straight birdies on the back nine between holes No. 13-16, carding a 34. In the final day of competition, he made five birdies in an eight-hole span.
Brady Haake rounded out the Mountain Lions scorers, notching a 221 to place in a tie for 25
th overall. Haake opened the tournament with a 71 before shooting back-to-back 75's. He made 12 pars and one birdie on Tuesday.
Barrett Jones shot a team best 68 today, the lowest score of any Mountain Lion in the tournament. Jones sank birdies on holes No. 4-8 today to record a 30 on the front nine and added a birdie on hole No. 15.
Ignacio de La Vega and
Lucas Howell competed as individuals, finishing in a tie for 35
th and 38
th place, respectively. De La Vega registered a 223 (78, 73, 72), just two strokes ahead of
Lucas Howell's 225 (73, 75, 77).
TOURNAMENT LEADERS
Host team Colorado State University Pueblo held their tournament lead from Monday, besting all eight teams with an 849. Colorado's Kristoffer Max also kept his individual lead with a tournament best 206 (65, 69, 72).
As a team, the Mountain Lions boasted the top par 4 scoring average (4.09), and were second in par 3 scoring (3.17) and third in birdies (50).
UP NEXT
UCCS will head to Litchfield Park, Ariz. April 18-20 for the 2021 RMAC Championship Tournament.
