RMAC Men’s Golf Preseason Coaches’ Poll Announced

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's golf team received 41 points and have been tabbed to finish fourth in the 2020-21 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Men's Golf Preseason Coaches' Poll, announced this afternoon by the league office. 
 
The coaches' poll was voted on by all nine head men's golf coaches that are set to compete this year. Coaches could not vote for their own institution.  Each institution has the option to opt out of the season due to Covid-19. As of this release, Regis has decided to opt out of the fall season.
 
Colorado School of Mines leads all nine men's golf teams with 63 points and seven first place votes.  Colorado State Pueblo is second overall with 50 points and two first place votes, with Colorado Mesa University just two points ahead of the Mountain Lions with 43 points.
 
Returning to the Mountain Lions program this season are Brandon Bervig (Colorado Springs, Colo.), Tanner Comes (Spokane, Wash.), Ignacio de La Vega (Toluca, Mexico), Barrett Jones (Eagle, Colo.) and Isaac Spillum (Scottsdale, Ariz.).  New to the Mountain Lions program in 2020-21 are Travis Bossio (Olympia, Wash.), Brady Haake (Gilbert, Ariz.), and Lucas Howell (Colorado Springs, Colo.).
 
UCCS will travel to El Paso, Texas for their first tournament of the season.  The Mountain Lions will compete Sept. 21-22 at the Lone Star/RMAC Shootout, hosted by Western New Mexico University at the Butterfield Trail Golf Course.
