LAS VEGAS, Nevada – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's golf team is competing in their first tournament of the spring season at the Las Vegas Desert Classic in Las Vegas, Nevada at the Royal Links Golf Club. University of Missouri-St. Louis is hosting the 20-team tournament. UCCS began the spring season with an opening round of 319, but settled in to take off 11 strokes in round two. The Mountain Lions are sitting in 17
th place with a two-round team score of 627.
St. Mary's University is the current team leader after two rounds with a 590 (299, 291). Colorado State-Pueblo's Andrew Ni carded a 143 to lead all individuals on Monday.
Barrett Jones leads the Mountain Lions after day one, posting a 154 to place in a tie for 38
th overall. Jones opened with an 81 but saved eight strokes in round two.
Parker Scaling is second on the team with a 156 and tied for 50
th overall (80, 76).
Isaac Spillum shot mirroring 79's in each round as is tied for 62
nd place.
Brandon Bervig is the fourth leading scorer for UCCS and is in a tie for 77
th overall (79, 82).
Tanner Comes' 163 (83, 80) has him tied for 85
th place.
The third and final round of the tournament will get underway on Tuesday at 8 a.m.
