COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – University of Colorado Colorado Springs head women's lacrosse coach
Christine Hatton has completed her recruiting class for the 2020-21 season. Hatton and the Mountain Lions will be adding six new members to the program next fall - Antonia Batuello, Avery Beck-Davis, Ava Blair, Sierra Ihm, Julia Patrick and Aliyah Weant.
Antonia Batuello joins the women's lacrosse program from Aurora, Colo. and Regis Jesuit High School. A 5-foot-9 goalkeeper, Batuello enters her senior season as a three-time letterwinner. In 2019, she tallied a 14-4 record behind 115 saves, nine ground balls and two interceptions for the Raiders. Batuello has earned all-league second team honors twice and was named to the 2019 CHSAA Academic All-State First Team. She helped the Raiders win the 2018 and 2019 league championships and to a final four appearance in 2019. Off the field, Batuello has earned the Highest Honors (4.00 plus GPA) eight times and is a member of the National Honors Society, Latin Honors Society, Athletic Training Club and Link.
A native of Flower Mound, Texas, Avery Beck-Davis helped the Flower Mound High School Jaguars to their first state tournament appearance in school history.
A product of Redondo Union High School in Hermosa Beach, Calif., Ava Blair earned the Seahawks Defensive Player of the Year award in 2019 and the Most Improved Player in 2017. A three-time varsity captain, Blair earned all-league first team honors in 2019. She has been a part of three Bay League championships and the 2018 LA Northern Division championship. Blair earned honor roll accolades at RUHS in 2016-17.
A CIF all-conference performer for three years, Sierra Ihm will graduate from Mission Hills High School in San Marcos, Calif. A 5-foot-5 attacker, Ihm is active off the field and is President of the fitness club and participates in beach clean-up programs.
One of the highest scorers in the Pacific Coast League last season, Julia Patrick ranked third in the league in goals (59), ground balls (46) and draw controls (78). She averaged at least three goals per game behind 92 shots on goal, while attempting 304 of the team's 455 draws. The 5-foot-5 midfielder from Tustin, Calif., she has been named the Arnold O. Beckman High School team MVP in 2018 and 2019 and received first team all-league honors in 2019 while earning the Scholar-Athlete Award from 2016-19. Patrick has helped the Patriots earn two straight CIF-Southern Section Round One appearances. She has been named to the Principal's Exemplary Honor Roll the last six semesters.
Aliyah Weant will join the Mountain Lions offensive attack from Columbine High School in Littleton, Colo. A three-time letterwinner and three-time all-conference performer, Weant enters her senior campaign with 72 career goals, 43 assists, 82 ground balls and 20 caused turnovers. The Rebels' attack MVP in 2019, Weant led the Jeffco League last season with 26 assists. She has helped LHS to two Jeffco League championship titles in 2017 and 2018, and earned academic all-state first team honors in 2018-19, and academic honor roll accolades in 2016-17 and 2017-18.
The Mountain Lions will open their season Feb. 13-16 when they travel to St. Paul, Minn. UCCS will face Concordia-St. Paul on Feb. 13, Upper Iowa University on Feb. 14, and Rockhurst University on Feb. 16.
