2026 UCCS Lacrosse Season Recap

Women's Lacrosse Season Recap
  • UCCS women's lacrosse finished the 2026 season with a 10–6 overall record and an 8–2 mark in RMAC play, including a 6–4 record at home and a strong 4–1 performance on the road.
  • The Mountain Lions opened the season against nationally ranked opponents and non-conference competition before transitioning into RMAC play in mid-March. After a 1–4 start, UCCS rebounded with a strong conference run, highlighted by key wins over Colorado Mesa (first win in program history vs. CMU), Fort Lewis, and Colorado State Pueblo.
  • UCCS continued to build momentum during the season with multiple high-scoring performances, including a dominant 22–7 win over Fort Lewis, marking the first of three 20-plus goal performances.
  • The Mountain Lions closed the regular season on a five-game winning streak, highlighted by their first ever win over Regis University.  UCCS' 12-11 win at Regis on April 18 also marked the first time in program history the Mountain Lions have defeated a ranked opponent, and the win gave UCCS their first RMAC Regular Season Championship (co-champions with Regis).

Regional Rankings
  • For the second straight season, the Mountain Lions were present in all three NCAA Midwest Regional rankings.  UCCS was one of eight Midwest Region teams listed Under Consideration in the initial rankings on April 15.  One week later, the Mountain Lions were ranked No. 6 in the region before closing out the regular season rankings ranked at No. 8 in the region on April 29.
     
 Stat Leaders
  • The Mountain Lions established themselves as one of the RMAC's top programs in 2026, leading the conference in assists per game (6.38), clearing percentage (.869), draw control percentage (.561), draw controls per game (13.88), points per game (19.19), shots per game (30.19), and shots on goal per game (22.19).
  • Nationally, UCCS ranked as high as sixth in Division II in ground balls per game (23.06) and 14th in clearing percentage. The Mountain Lions also finished 34th nationally in both scoring defense (10.31) and win percentage (.625).
  • Allie Schell paced the RMAC with 24 assists while also leading the conference in assists per game (1.50). Nationally, she ranked 80th in total assists and 68th in assists per game. Freshman Allison Hoffman added another strong playmaking presence with 16 assists, the second-highest total on the team.
  • Jade Wilson dominated the draw circle throughout the season, leading the RMAC and ranking 48th nationally with 4.44 draw controls per game. Josie Leonard also made a strong impact, averaging 2.50 draw controls per contest.
  • Defensively, Charlotte Fannin averaged 2.56 ground balls per game, while Wilson contributed 2.06 ground balls per outing to help anchor one of the conference's top defensive units.
  • Offensively, Ella Mills and Sofia Watts powered the Mountain Lions attack. Mills finished fourth in the RMAC with 46 goals while averaging 2.88 goals per game. Watts added 41 goals and excelled on free-position opportunities, converting at a .611 clip — the second-best mark in the RMAC and 17th nationally — while averaging 2.56 goals per contest. Both players also ranked among the conference leaders in shots and shots on goal per game.
  • In goal, Delaney Gnos anchored the defense with one of the RMAC's top performances between the pipes. Gnos finished third in the conference in both goals-against average (11.53) and save percentage (.404), totaling 84 saves while averaging 5.60 saves per game.
 
Hot Takes
  • The 2026 season marked a historic chapter for UCCS women's lacrosse, highlighted by the program's first-ever RMAC Regular Season Championship. The Mountain Lions also secured milestone victories over Colorado Mesa and Regis, including the first win over a nationally ranked opponent in program history with a thrilling 12-11 road victory at No. 19 Regis.
  • UCCS finished the season with a program-record 10 wins while matching the longest winning streak in school history with five consecutive victories from April 2 through April 18.
  • The Mountain Lions continued to climb the program record books on both ends of the field:
    • UCCS' 102 assists and 369 ground balls ranked as the third-highest single-season totals in program history.
    • The Mountain Lions recorded the fourth-most shots in a season (483) and the fourth-highest assists per game average (6.38).
    • UCCS also posted the fifth-best marks in program history in goals (205), points (307), points per game (19.19), and ground balls per game (23.06).
  • On April 2 at CSU Pueblo, UCCS rewrote the single-game record book with program records of 40 points and 17 assists in a 23-6 victory. The 23 goals tied the school record for goals in a game, while the Mountain Lions later matched the program record for draw controls with 25 against Westminster on April 12.
  • Jade Wilson continued her dominance in the draw circle by tying her own school record with 12 draw controls against Westminster on April 12, marking the second 12-draw performance of her career.
  • Several Mountain Lions also cemented their places among the program's all-time greats during the 2026 campaign.
  • Brielle Fannin closed out her career ranked among the top-10 in UCCS history in assists (fourth, 44), points (fifth, 122), shots on goal (seventh, 131), goals (eighth, 78), and shots (10th, 166).
  • Allie Schell completed an outstanding four-year career ranked second all-time in assists (66) while also sitting sixth in both points (116) and games played (tied, 62). Her 22 assists during the 2026 season were the second-most by a senior in program history and tied for the fourth-most in any season.
  • In just two seasons at UCCS, Sofia Watts has already climbed into the career record books, ranking fifth in goals (84), sixth in shots on goal (139), seventh in shots (169), 10th in points (91), and 10th in draw controls (65).
  • Kendra Knutson became the program's all-time leader in games started after starting all 64 games of her career, tying for the most games played in school history. Her 130 career ground balls rank fourth all-time at UCCS.
  • After transferring in for her final two collegiate seasons, Jade Wilson made an immediate and lasting impact on the program. Wilson set a new senior season record with 71 draw controls in 2026, ranking as the third-most draws in a single season in program history. In only two seasons, she moved into second place all-time in career draw controls with 139.
  • A four-year member of the program, Peyton Ross finished her career ranked third all-time in games played (63) and eighth in draw controls (83).
  • Sydnee-Anne Moeller closed out her career tied for sixth in program history with 62 games played while also ranking ninth all-time in draw controls (67).
  • Ella Mills made an immediate impact in her first season as a Mountain Lion, as her 51 points and 46 goals tied for the third-highest single-season totals in program history. Her 46 goals also established a new freshman scoring record at UCCS.
  • Sophomore goalkeeper Delaney Gnos started all 15 games in net and posted a 7-5 record while continuing to climb the UCCS record books. Gnos currently owns the best career goals-against average in program history (11.52), recorded the second-most saves in a season by a sophomore (84), and ranks fourth all-time in career saves (92).
