GOODYEAR, Ariz. – University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's golfer
Jack Duguid finished second overall out of 120 golfers competing at the Western New Mexico University Mustang Intercollegiate. Duguid led the Mountain Lions to a fourth-place team finish with a three-round total 847 (-17 par) at Palm Valley Golf Club in Goodyear, Ariz.
Duguid shot under par in each round, including a four-under par in today's round. He finished 13-under par for the tournament, carding a 203 (68, 67, 68). Duguid's five birdies today gave him 15 for the tournament, the fifth most in the field. In three rounds, he totaled two eagles and finished third in par 4 scoring (-7) and fourth in par 5 scoring (-8).
Clay McCrory notched a 25
th place finish with a two-under par 214 (67, 68, 79).
Isaac Spillum was even in par 3 scoring and tallied the third most pars in the three rounds (40) to finish in a tie for 42
nd overall, carding an even par 216.
Ignacio de La Vega's 222 placed him in a tie for 83
rd overall to close the Mountain Lions scores.
Peter Johns posted a 229 to place 105 overall.
Colorado School of Mines bested all 23 teams, shooting an 840. Ethan Casto of Western Washington University won the individual title, just two strokes better than Duguid (201).
The Mountain Lions will compete at the 2019 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championship Tournament April 21-23 in Chandler, Ariz. at the Ocotillo Golf Resort.
