GOODYEAR, Ariz. – Behind a combined four eagles and 21 birdies,
Jack Duguid and
Clay McCrory are both tied for fifth place with a nine-under par 135 after two rounds of the Western New Mexico University Intercollegiate, held at Palm Valley Golf Club in Goodyear, Ariz. Duguid and McCrory are pacing the University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's golf team to a fifth-place, 13-under par 563 after today's first two rounds (283, 280).
Colorado School of Mines is leading all 23-teams after shooting a 21-under par 555. Ethan Casto of Western Washington University is the individual leader after carding a 12-under par 132 (65, 67).
Duguid opened the tournament posting a 68, followed by a 67 in round two. In round one, he recorded an eagle on hole No. 2 and birdied four holes while making par 12 times. In the second round, Duguid added another eagle on hole No. 11, while notching six birdies.
McCrory started the tournament on fire, posting nine birdies in the first round as part of his 67. He shot birdie on three straight holes twice during the opening round and followed that performance with a 68 in round two. McCrory matched Dugid with two eagles today (hole No. 2, 11) and added two birdies.
Isaac Spillum is currently tied for 41
st place with a 144. Spillum started the day with a one-over par 73 but took off two strokes in round two.
Ignacio de La Vega owns a 149 after two rounds (75, 74) to close out the Mountain Lions scorers.
The third and final round will begin Tuesday morning at 7:47 a.m.
