SANTEE, Calif. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's golf team moved up four spots from Monday's opening round to finish 11
th overall at the UC-San Diego SoCal Intercollegiate, held at Carlton Oaks Golf Club in Santee, Calif. The Mountain Lions, competing in their first tournament of the spring season, posted a three-round total of 904 (303, 302, 299).
UCCS started Tuesday by completing the final holes from Monday's second round before playing the final 18 holes.
Jack Duguid led UCCS and improved by one shot in each round, carding a 216 (73, 72, 71) to place seventh overall.
Peter Johns was 10 strokes behind Duguid to finish in a tie for 31
st place (226).
Ignacio de La Vega recorded a 77 in the last two rounds and placed 64
th out of 90 golfers after posting a 233.
Isaac Spillum closed out the Mountain Lions scorers with a 71st place finish and a score of 235 (76, 79, 80). Finishing fifth for UCCS and 75
th overall was
Tanner Comes, who tallied a 236.
Sonoma State University won the 16-team tournament. SSU finished three-over par as a team (867). Will Barnett of Cal State East Bay earned the individual title with his six-under par 210.
The Mountain Lions will return to California on March 18-19 for the CSU East Bay Pioneer Shootout.
