Mountain Lions in Eleventh Place after Day One of SEU Invite

AUSTIN, Texas – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's golf team cut off eight strokes in round two of the Golf Glove St. Edward's University Invitational Monday afternoon.  The Mountain Lions opened the tournament at Onion Creek Club in Austin, Texas with a 297, but improved to record a 289 in round two.
 
UCCS is currently in a four-way tie for 11th place (586).  St. Mary's University leads all 16 teams, carding a 558.
 
Clay McCrory is sitting in 26th place overall and a team best 144.  McCrory opened with a 74 but took off four strokes in round two behind three birdies. 
 
Ignacio de La Vega and Jack Duguid are both tied for 44th place after tallying two 148's.  Duguid notched a 74 in each round while de La Vega made the biggest jump in round two.  de La Vega opened the tournament shooting a 78 but slashed eight strokes in round two thanks in part to five birdies, including three straight on holes No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6.
 
Tanner Comes rounds out the Mountain Lions scorers today with a149 (tied-48th), three strokes ahead of Peter Johns (63rd place).
 
Round three will begin Tuesday morning at 7:30 a.m. (MDT).
