ALAMEDA, Calif. –
Jack Duguid and
Clay McCrory carried the University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's golf team to a sixth-place finish at the California State University East Bay Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout, held at the Chuck Corica Golf Complex in Alameda, Calif. As a team, UCCS finished with a three-round score of 892 after carding below-300 scores in each round (297, 299, 296).
Duguid and McCrory tied for 14
th place overall after a solid showing of 219. Duguid recorded his best round of the tournament today after birdies on holes No. 9 and No. 15 to post a 72. He also led the field with 14 pars.
McCrory, who tallied five of his team high 10 birdies today, shot a final round of 73 after carding a 69 and 77 on Monday. He finished with a two-under par on par 5 holes and was second overall in birdies.
Ignacio de La Vega opened the tournament with an 81, but posted 73's in the final two rounds to finish 47
th overall with a 227. Both
Tanner Comes and
Peter Johns notched a 233 for the tournament to tie for 58
th place.
Sonoma State University led the 16-team tournament with a six-under 858. Cal State East Bay's Will Barnett posted 10-under 206 to take home the individual honors.
UCCS will be back in action March 25-26 at the St. Edward's University Invite in Austin, Texas.
