Men’s Golf in Eighth Place after Day One of Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout

ALAMEDA, Calif. – Clay McCrory recorded four birdies and an eagle in the opening round of the California State University East Bay Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout to lead the University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's golf team on Monday.  The Mountain Lions recorded two sub-300 rounds at the Chuck Corica Golf Complex and are in eighth place with a two-round total of 596 (297, 299).
 
McCrory is sitting in 14th place heading into the final round. He posted a 69 in the opening round with birdies on Holes 1, 5, 12 and 15, including an eagle on par 5-hole No. 17.  He added eight strokes in round two and owns a two-round score of 146.
 
Jack Duguid, who also birdied four holes in the second round, is tied for 23rd place with a 147 (73, 74).  Ignacio de La Vega and Peter Johns round out the Mountain Lions top scorers.  Both golfers are tied for 55th place overall after shooting a two-round score of 154.
 
Host team Cal State East Bay leads all 16 teams with a five-under par 571 behind Will Barnett's tournament best 133 (11-under par).
 
The third and final round will begin Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. (MT).
