#1 UCCS hosts BHSU for Senior Night and Regis for Regular Season Finale.

This Week's Games
  • The #1 University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's soccer team will be at home for their final games of the regular season.
  • On Friday, November 1, #1 UCCS will take on Black Hills State University (BHSU) for Senior Night at 4:30 p.m. inside Mountain Lion Stadium.
  • On Sunday, November 3, #1 UCCS will face off against Regis University at 11 a.m. inside Mountain Lion Stadium.
Game Coverage Last Time Out
  • #1 UCCS crushed Metropolitan State University of Denver (MSU Denver) on Saturday in their only matchup of the weekend to improve their record to 15-0.
  • The Mountain Lions cruised to a 6-1 victory as they scored two first half goals and four second half goals against MSU Denver.
  • UCCS got started quickly as Shanade Hopcroft found the net off an assist from Kelsey Lanham in the fourth minute to give UCCS a 1-0 lead. Four minutes later, the roles were reversed as Lanham found the net off an assist from Hopcroft to give the Mountain Lions a 2-0 lead, with Savannah Mills getting credit for the double assist.
  • In the second half it was more of the same as Tanner Sanders scored off an assist from Nicolette Sandoval within the first five minutes to give UCCS their third goal of the game.
  • Later Hopcroft and Sanders would both score their second goals of the game, with Hopcroft assisting on Sanders' goal and Aleesa Muir and Sandoval combining for a double assist on Hopcroft's goal.
  • Then in the 76th minute, Naomi Gurrola scored her first goal of the season off another double assist, this time from Kaitlin Hinkle and Taylor Wilpolt, effectively giving UCCS an unsurmountable 6-0 lead.
  • MSU Denver's Arantxa Melendez added a goal late to make the 6-1.
  •  UCCS outshout MSU Denver 24-8, including 13-1 in the first half and 13-2 in shots on goal.
RMAC Record/Standings
  • #1 UCCS remains at the top of the RMAC with their 15-0 overall record and 11-0 conference record.
  • Regis is currently fifth in the RMAC, making Sunday's game a top-five RMAC matchup.
The Series
  • Against BHSU, UCCS has a record of 3-0 and has won all three games by a combined score of 22-7, including an emphatic 11-4 victory in the most recent matchup between the teams.
  • Against Regis, UCCS has an unimpressive 2-10 all-time record. However, the Mountain Lions did win the most recent matchup by a score of 3-1.
Scouting the Opponent
  • BHSU has struggled this season as they own a 3-10-1 overall record and a 3-6-1 record in the RMAC. The Yellow Jackets have scored 12 goals on 118 shots (50 on goal) and allowed 34 goals this season.
  • BHSU also has seven assists, 41 corner kicks and a shots on goal percentage of 42 percent.
  • Individually, Katie Nielson and Mikayla Hernandez lead the offense for the Yellow Jackets. Nielson leads the team in goals and points with five and 11 respectively. Hernandez ranks second on the team in both goals and points with four and 10 respectively, but she leads the team in assists with two.
  • Goalkeeper Dz-Rae Jara has played the majority of the minutes in goal for BSHU and has racked up 72 saves and a save percentage of 76 percent.
  • Regis currently sports a record of 9-4-2 overall, including a 7-3-1 conference record which is good enough for fifth place in the RMAC. The Rangers have scored 32 goals on 226 shots (110 on goal) and allowed 12 goals this season.
  • Regis also has 24 assists, 65 corner kicks and a shots on goal percentage of 48 percent.
  • Individually, Audrey Teague and Carly Bych pace the offense for Regis as Teague has a team high eight goals and Bych has the second most at six. Teague adds an assist for her 17 points while Bych has two assists for her 14, both of which rank first and second on the team respectively.
  • Natasha Wehner is the main distributor for the Rangers as she leads the team in assists with six.
  • Goalkeeper Julia Coombs has started all but one game this season for Regis and has accumulated 43 saves and a save percentage of 78 percent.
Hot Takes
  • Four different Mountain Lions scored in the team's only game this past weekend, two of whom scored their first goals of the season.
  • Junior Kelsey Lanham scored her first goal and recorded her first assist of the season on Saturday, giving her three total points this season.
  • Senior Naomi Gurrola scored her first goal of the season on Saturday off a double assist from freshman Kaitlin Hinkle, her fourth of the year, and sophomore Taylor Wilpolt. For Wilpolt, that marks her first assist and point of the season and her first career assist for UCCS.
  • Redshirt junior Shanade Hopcroft recorded her second straight game with six points as she recorded two goals and two assists on Saturday. Those numbers give her 12 goals and eight assists for her team high 32 points.
  • Hopcroft's outstanding season has allowed her to break into the UCCS all-time top-10 in a few categories. Hopcroft now ranks ninth all-time in points (32) and 10th in goals (12) and is approaching the UCCS single season record for each, which are 35 for points and 15 for goals respectively. She has also set the UCCS record for goals in a junior season and ranks 10th all-time in assists.
  • Freshman Tanner Sanders scored two goals over the weekend, giving her nine on the season and 23 total points, both of which are second on the team. With those two goals, Sanders has now tied the UCCS record for goals in a freshman season, a mark set by teammate Tarah Patterson two years ago.
  • Senior Aleesa Muir and sophomore Savannah Mills both recorded their third assists of the season on Saturday.
  • Freshman Nicolette Sandoval recorded her first two assists of the season on Saturday, marking her first career assists for UCCS.
Award Winners
  • Kelsey Lanham was named the RMAC Defensive Player of the Week for her three-point performance (one goal, one assist) on Saturday, making her the third straight player for UCCS to win RMAC Defensive Player of the Week. This marks Lanham's first nod for the award this season.
  • Lanham helped the UCCS defense hold MSU Denver to only two shots on goal in addition to her offensive contribution. Lanham's goal was also the first game winning goal of her career.
  • The RMAC All-Academic team were announced this week and 10 UCCS players were named in the report, including Aleesa Muir and Ella Fischer being named to the RMAC All-Academic First Team.
  • In addition to Muir and Fischer, eight other players were named to the RMAC All-Academic Honor Roll. Those players are Caitlin Esterle, Makenna Fuhrmann, Alexis Walker, Katie Puchino, Taylor Wilpolt, Amelia Junge, Sammi Walker, and Savannah Mills.

  • As a team, UCCS ranks first in the RMAC in goals scored (52), goals allowed (seven), scoring average (3.467), opponents scoring average (.47), average margin of victory (3.00), assists (39), assists per game (2.600), points (143) and points per game (9.53).
  • UCCS also ranks second in save percentage (85.7 percent) and shots on goal per game (8.87), fourth in shots per game (18.87) and fifth in shots and shots on goal (283, 133).
  • Individually, Shanade Hopcroft remains at the top of the RMAC in almost every statistical category except for total assists and total shots on goal, where she ranks second with eight assists and 27 shots on goal. Hopcroft has 12 goals (.857 per game), five game winning goals (.400 per game), 32 points (2.29 per game), 57 shots (4.07 per game) and gets about 1.92 shots on goal per game all of which lead the RMAC.
  • Tanner Sanders ranks second in the RMAC points (23, tied) and goals per game (.667), third in goals (nine) and points per game (1.53), sixth in assists (five) and seventh in assists per game (.333).
  • Kaitlin Hinkle ranks second in the RMAC in game winning goals (four), fourth in goals (eight) and goals per game (.533), fifth in points (20), and sixth in points per game (1.33).
  • Savannah Mills ranks second in the RMAC in points per game (1.63) and 10th in points with 13.
  • Keeper Mollee Swift ranks first in the RMAC in goals allowed (five) and goals against average (.45) and has the third best save percentage at 84.4 percent.

  • UCCS is approaching their 50th win under coach Hudson as they are now 49-8-4 with Hudson at the helm.
Upcoming Games
  • Next weekend marks the start of the postseason as the RMAC Tournament is scheduled to begin on Friday, November 8. The bracket will be released Sunday evening.
