CHARLOTTE, N.C. – May 24, 2018 – Five University of Colorado Colorado Springs Mountain Lions advanced to the finals of the 2018 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championship meet, hosted by Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, N.C.
Thursday marked the opening day of the Division II championship meet from the Irwin Belk Track Complex. The men's 4x100m Relay, comprised of
John Douglas,
Deshon Elcock,
Caleb Simons and
LaChristopher Smith finished the prelims in a tie for seventh place with a time of 40.50 to advance to the finals on Saturday at 1:25 p.m. (MDT).
Molly Klotz also advanced to the finals in the 1,500m run after posting the sixth fastest time on Thursday (4:29.61). Klotz will compete on Saturday at 1:55 p.m. (MDT).
Kayla Wooten finished 14
th overall in the event with a time of 4:30.72.
Kaija Crowe is currently sitting in 13
th place in the Heptathlon with 2,789 points. Crowe competed in the 100m hurdles (15.20), High Jump (1.60m), shot put (8.87m) and 200m dash (26.17). She will finish the Heptathlon on Friday morning in the Long Jump, Javelin and 800m events.
Crowe also competed in the Long Jump Thursday afternoon, recording a mark of 5.70m to place 15
th overall.
Kayla Zink ran to a 22
nd place finish in the 100m dash prelims, posting a time of 12.35.
Simons also competed in the 400m dash and
Hannah Meek competed in the Long Jump.
On Friday, Simons will run the second head of the 200m dash at 3:35 p.m., and
Skylyn Webb will compete in the first heat of the 800m run at 4:20.
