COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs track & field teams divided and conquered over the weekend as they sent athletes to both the West Texas Classic and the Colorado Invitational.
The women's team saw
Skylyn Webb and
Molly Klotz finish fourth and sixth respectively in the 1,500m at the Colorado Invitational, recording the eighth and 10
th fastest times in all of Division II as they crossed the finish line with times of 4:34.90 and 4:35.15. Both times were provisional qualifying times.
At the West Texas Classic,
Conor Bertles notched a provisional mark in the discus after throwing 51.55m for the Mountain Lions. His throw ranks him 12
th in Division II while placing second overall at the meet.
Other top performers at the meet included
Kayla Zink placing second in the 100m (12.06 seconds) and fourth in the 200m (25.19 seconds) with her men's counterparts Johnathan Douglas taking third ni the 100m (10.74 seconds) and
Caleb Simons leading four Mountain Lions in the 200m with a time of 21.44 seconds.
Andi Harrelson won the javelin, throwing a distance of 39.47m as Colton Harkins did the same on the men's side with a distance of 49.94m.
As a team, the women place third out of 16 teams with a total of 90.5 points while the men's team was second overall out of 14 teams with 113 points.
UCCS is back in action this weekend at Nebraska-Kearney's Loper Invitational, which is their final meet before the RMAC Championships are held April 27 and 28 at Colorado School of Mines.
