GOLDEN, Colo. – On the final day of action at the RMAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships, both the UCCS men's and women's teams placed second overall.
On the men's side, the 4x100m relay team of Johnathan Douglas,
Deshon Elcock,
Caleb Simons, and
LaChristopher Smith took first place with a 40:30 finish as the 4x400m relay team of
Zaccre Kenward, Elcock, Douglas, and Simons placed third with a time of 3:15.05.
Smith also had a productive day individually, winning the 100m with a time of 10.44 seconds as well as finishing third in the 200m with a time of 21.15 seconds, right behind Simons who place second in 21.10 seconds.
Simons also took second in the 400m with a tie of 47.71 seconds.
For the women's team,
Skylyn Webb cruised to a win in the 400m with a time of 54.74 seconds.
Molly Klotz was busy on the day, placing second in the 400m hurdles (1:02.30) while placing third in the 1,500m (4:35.69).
Sprinter
Kayla Zink placed second in the 200m for UCCS, crossing the finish line in 24.27 seconds.
New Mexico Highlands took home the women's title after scoring 152 points while Colorado School of Mines ran away with the men's championships with 201 points.
The men's team scored 108 points, edging out CSU-Pueblo, who placed third with 107 points. For the women, the Mountain Lions secured second with 127 points as Mines took third with 106 points.
Both teams are back in action next weekend when they compete at the Air Force Twilight on Friday.
