GOLDEN, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs track and field teams competed at the Colorado School of Mines' Kit Mayer Invitational on Saturday.
Distance runner
David Kimaiyo led the Mountain Lions in the 3,000m steeplechase with a third place finish and a time of 9:52.14. He then placed eighth in the 400m hurdles (57.66) as teammates
Cody Harris (57.66) and
Ryan Vomacka (58.38) took seventh and ninth, respectively.
Sprinter
Tristan Hinkley placed fourth in the 100m (11.25) as
Desmond Calhoun was seventh (11.34).
For the women's team,
Brenna Kuskie won the pole vault after clearing 3.54 meters, just missing out on a provisional qualifying height of 3.64m.
Dejah Glover and
Jalen Jordan placed sixth and seventh in the 100m with times of 12.85 and 12.93 seconds. Jordan also competed in the 400m hurdles with a fourth place finish (1:06.58).
Glover then took seventh in the 200m (25.80) as
Skylyn Webb was sixth (25.56) for UCCS.
In the distance events, Kyle Johnson paced the Mountain Lions in the 1,500m with a time of 5:05.69 as
Katie Novak placed sixth in the 5,000m (18:56.15).
Both teams are off until the RMAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships, which will be held April 27-29 at the Colorado School of Mines.
