PITTSBURG, Kan. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs indoor track & field team put together a spectacular finish to the 2018 NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday.
In all, the Mountain Lions saw five athletes earn All-America status as the both the men's and women's teams scored points.
The lone men's competitor was
William Mayhew. The junior finished fifth in the 800m with a time 1:50.32, his fastest time of the season.
Mayhew's counterpart on the women's side was
Skylyn Webb, who place third in the same event with a time of 2:08.77.
The women's mile saw
Molly Klotz place fifth (4:50.68) while edging out teammate
Kayla Wooten (4:50.74). Both times were season bests for the duo.
In the pentathlon,
Kaija Crowe was seventh overall after scoring 3,762, which was also her highest points total in the event this year.
With Mayew's finish, the men's team finished tied for 38
th out of nearly 80 teams while the women's team finished tied for 13
th out of 91 teams that were represented at the meet.
In all UCCS saw nine athletes earn All-American over the weekend.
The teams can now look towards the outdoor season, which starts next weekend at Colorado's Jerry Quiller Classic in Boulder.
