ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs indoor track & field teams competed at both New Mexico's Don Kirby Invitational as well as the Adams State NCAA Qualifier.
On the women's side,
Skylyn Webb continued her strong season with an NCAA Division II automatic qualifying time in the 800m with a third place finish at the Don Kirby Invitational. Webb, who was the top collegiate finisher, ran the event in 2:06.20, which is the fastest time in Division II this season. The junior also ran a provisional time of 55.43 in the 400m.
Teammate
Molly Klotz placed seventh in the 800m with a provisional time of 2:13.27, which was her best time of the season in the event.
Sprinter
Kayla Zink also earned a provisional time in the 60m, crossing the finish line in just 7.62 seconds in the prelims. Zink also ran a provisional time of 7.65 seconds in the semifinals.
At Adams State,
Kaija Crowe earned provisional mark in the long jump with a mark of 5.75m in addition to winning the pentathlon with 2,768 points.
Also in the field events, Alexis Carrol won the triple jump with a provisional distance of 11.72m.
On the men's side,
Zaccre Kenward won the triple jump with a provisional mark of 14.58m at the Adams State NCAA Qualifier.
Kenward led a trio of jumpers for UCCS who went one, two, three in the event with William Ross taking second (14.39m), and
Anthony Peters finishing third (14.01m).
Derek Valdez took first place in the high jump with a height of 2.01m for the Mountain Lions.
At the Don Kirby Invitational,
Caleb Simons won his 400m heat with a provisional time of 48.34 seconds
Both teams will compete in the Air Force Open next week as final preparation for the upcoming RMAC Championships, which will be held Feb. 23-24 at the Colorado School of Mines.
