VonHolle Earns All-American Honors

POMONA, Calif. – Junior Alex VonHolle of the University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's soccer team has been voted to the 2018 Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) Men's Soccer All-America Team earning Second Team honors, as announced by the D2CCA Wednesday morning.

Sports Information Directors from NCAA Division II schools and conferences sponsoring men's soccer selected the D2CCA All-America Team. The process begins at the regional level with all First Team All-Region picks advancing to the national ballot. This marks the 13th year that teams have been selected since the All-America program began in 2006.

A midfielder out of Midland, Texas, VonHolle burst onto the scene in 2018 netting 14 goals and registering 9 assists to total 37 points on the season. His 37 points and 9 assists set new program records for most points and most assists in a single season. A starter in all 19 games for the Mountain Lions, VonHolle helped UCCS reach the RMAC Semifinals this season by recording two goals and one assist in the RMAC Quarterfinal to advance past Regis with a final score of 5-3. Within the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC), VonHolle ranked tied for second in goals and assists, while finishing second in points and game-winning goals (5). Among VonHolle's D2CCA All-South Central Region First Team recognition, he also earned All-RMAC First Team, RMAC All-Academic First Team, and RMAC All-Tournament Team for the 2018 season.

As a team, the Mountain Lions season closed out their season in the RMAC Semifinals against Colorado School of Mines on Friday, Nov. 2. UCCS finished the regular season 10-5-3 and entered the tournament as the No. 5 seed beating No. 4 seed Regis in the RMAC Quarterfinals 5-3, ending the season with their best finish since 2016.

The Division II Conference Commissioners Association encourages and promotes Division II athletics and high standards of sportsmanship as important elements of higher education. The CCA is a key communications link among the conferences as they discuss views, policies and regulations that impact Division II intercollegiate athletics and works closely with the NCAA as a communications channel to NCAA Division II member colleges and universities.
