COLORADO SPRINGS – University of Colorado Colorado Springs head men's golf coach
Phil Trujillo has signed two Colorado native high school students to a National Letter of Intent. Brandon Bervig and Jack Tickle will join the Mountain Lions in Fall 2019.
From Colorado Springs, Colo. and a product of Liberty High School, Brandon Bervig owns a career scoring average of 74.3, including a 71.4 average in his senior season. In 2018, he was named first team all-state, 5A CSML individual runner-up and the 5A Sothern Regional co-medalist. A three-time first team all-conference and first team all-area performer, Bervig was tabbed the 2017 Pikes Peak Area Player of the Year, as well second team all-state and the 5A CSML individual championship.
Bervig helped the Lancers to three 5A CSML championship titles and second place at the 5A Southern Regional Tournament. A three-sport student-athlete (basketball, baseball), he is an academic honor roll student and academic letterwinner.
From Centennial, Colo. and a future graduate of Arapahoe High School, Jack Tickle is averaging 71.56 in scoring during his senior season. His lowest round is a 66, and he has recorded three bogey-free rounds. The Centennial League Player of the Year and first team selection, he is a three-time letterwinner in golf. The team's MVP this season, he is the fifth ranked player in 5A. Tickle currently holds the school season record for scoring average (71.56).
Tickle and the Warriors earned the Centennial League Championship the past four seasons, and have won the regional championship title in 2017 and 2018. A four-year honor roll student, Tickle was named to the Academic All-State second team, and an academic letter this past season.
The Mountain Lions are scheduled to open their spring season Feb. 25-26 at the Academy of Arts University Invite.
