WESTMINSTER, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs added 13 strokes in round two of the 2018 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Men's Golf Fall Preview, recording a second round score of 309 following Monday's opening round 296. Regis University is hosting the tournament at Walnut Creek Golf Preserve in Westminster, Colo.
The Mountain Lions were sitting in second place behind Colorado State-Pueblo on Monday after the first round of the tournament. The second round was started on Monday but was postponed until this morning due to weather and darkness. Round three will not be played due to weather conditions.
UCCS was led by
Ignacio de La Vega's seventh place finish of 148 (73, 75).
Jack Duguid was one stroke back and placed 11
th overall (73, 76).
Clay McCrory improved two strokes in the second round to card a 152 (77, 75) and finish 20
th out of 63 golfers.
Tanner Comes rounded out UCCS' scorers. After opening the tournament in sixth place with a 73, Comes finished the tournament tied for 33
rd place with a 156.
Peter Johns, who competed as an individual, also tied with Comes after posting a 156 (81, 75).
The ThunderWolves won the 10-team two-round tournament after scoring a 594. The Pack's Nathan McCann won the individual title with a three-under par 141.
UCCS will travel to St. George, Utah Oct. 15-16 to compete in the Dixie State University Regional Preview.
