GOLDEN, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's outdoor track & field team took part in a pair of last chance meets on Sunday with the Mountain Lions competing in both the Colorado Mines' Last Chance Meet as well as the West Texas A&M Last Chance Meet.
At Colorado Mines, distance runner
David Kimaiyo ran an NCAA Division II provisional qualifying time of 9:29.21 in the 3,000m steeplechase, earning a second place finish.
Caleb Simons also placed second in the 400m for UCCS as teammate
Tristan Hinkley took sixth.
At West Texas A&M, jumper William Ross place second overall in the triple jump with a provisional leap of 14.83m.
In the long jump,
DePree Kimber placed third with a distance of 7.15m.
Several Mountain Lions hope to earn bids to the upcoming NCAA Division II Championships, which will be held at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla. And runs May 25-27.
