CANYON, Texas – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's track & field team were led of the weekend by sprinter
LaChristopher Smith who earned provisional qualifying times in both the 100m and 200m at the West Texas A&M Classic & Multi.
Smith ran his way to a third place finish in the 100m with a blistering time of 10.56 seconds while also posting a time of 21.38seconds in the 200m. Smith also helped the 4x100m relay earn third with a combined time of 41.68 seconds.
Fellow sprinter
Deshon Elcock sprinted to a career-best time in the 100m, crossing the finish line with a time of 10.89 seconds.
Elcock, along with
Derek Valdez each cleared 1.96m in the high jump, tying for fifth place overall.
In the triple jump,
Will Ross placed second with a provisional distance of 14.90m as
DePree Kimber leapt 7.00m to a sixth place finish.
The team is off until next Thursday when they travel west to compete in the Mt. Sac Relays and Bryan Clay Invitational in southern California.
