PUEBLO, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado women's outdoor track & field team opened their season at the CSU-Pueblo Open on Sunday.
Molly Klotz carried over her strong indoor season as she earned a provisional qualifying time in the 400m hurdles with a first place time of 1:01.47. The junior also joined
Jalen Jordan,
Kayla Wooten, and
Bethany Johns in the 4x400m relay to record a fourth place finish with a combined time of 3:59.07.
In the 400m,
Chelsea Martus placed fifth with a time of 59.46 as Wooten took fourth in the 800m with a time of 2:13.46.
In the field events, UCCS took first, second, third, and fifth in the high jump as
Morgan Barone led the pack after clearing 1.60m. The Mountain Lions also placed first and second in the javelin with
Kelsey Calhoun winning with a throw of 38.64m, edging out teammate
Andi Harrelson's throw of 38.25m.
UCCS travels next weekend when they compete in the West Texas A&M Classic in Canyon, Texas.
