LONG BEACH, Calif. – Freshman
Kayla Wooten ran the fastest 1,500m in her career on Saturday, highlighting a successful day at the Long Beach Invitational for the University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's track & field team.
Wooten ran the third fastest time in the NCAA Division II this season, crossing the finish line with a provisional qualifying time of 4:27.11. The freshman was sixth overall in the event.
Her time shattered her time the night before at the Mt. SAC Relays, which was 4:37.05.
In the 800m,
Molly Klotz earned a provisional qualifying time of 2:13.18, which is just under the provisional standard of 2:13.33. Teammate
Chelsea Martus also competed in the event, finishing in 2:24.77.
The Mountain Lions are back in action Saturday, April 22 at Colorado Mines' Nature's Bakery Invitational.
