Kayla Wooten Advances to Women's Mile Finals at NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships

The freshman recorded a new personal best in the event, earning a spot in the finals on Saturday

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Freshman distance runner Kayla Wooten advance to the women's mile final after finishing eighth overall at the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships on Thursday at the Birmingham CrossPlex Complex.

Wooten crossed the finish line in second place with a time of 4:49.99, a career-best, in the second heat. The freshman advances to the final, which will take place on Saturday at 2:15 p.m. MST. Wooten's previous top time of the season was 5:00.85, which she ran at New Mexico's Don Kirby Invitational.

Molly Klotz missed out on advancing to the 800m finals after running to a 15th place finish with a time of 2:14.11, which was her third fastest time in the event this season.
