BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs'
LaChristopher Smith and
William Mayhew wrapped-up their indoor season as the duo competed at the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships Thursday afternoon at the Birmingham CrossPlex Complex.
Mayhew ran 1:52.61 in the 800m, just missing out on advancing to the finals by two spots. The sophomore finished fourth in the first heat. Mayew's time was his third fastest in the event this season. By finishing 9th overall, Mayhew earned All-America Second Team honors.
Smith ran in the 60m prelims as he crossed the finish line with a time of 6.93 seconds, missing the cut to advance to the finals on Saturday after finishing eighth in his heat. The junior is the first sprinter from UCCS to qualify for the national championship meet.
Smith, Mayhew, and the rest of the Mountain Lions will start their outdoor season at the Colorado College Invitational on Saturday, March 25.
