BOULDER, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's track & field team had a solid showing at the CU Open on Saturday with the sprinters taking center stage.
Junior
LaChristopher Smith ran his first 200m of the season, placing fourth with an altitude adjusted time of 21.89, just missing out on the NCAA provisional qualifying time of 21.83. Smith was the top Division II finisher in the field.
Freshman
Caleb Simons recorded a fourth place finish in the 400m for UCCS, crossing the finish line with a time 49.10. Simons time was the second fastest Division II time in the event.
In the 800m, sophomore
William Mayhew recorded another provisional qualifying time, crossing the finish line with a time fourth place time of 1:52.32.
In the field events,
Conor Bertles took eighth place in the shot put with a distance 15.22m (49' 11.25").
The Mountain Lions are back in action next weekend when they will compete in New Mexico's Don Kirby Invitational and Adam State's NCAA Qualifier.
