SPEARFISH, S.D. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's indoor track & field team sit in seventh place after the first day of the RMAC Championships at Black Hills State.
UCCS saw several athletes advance to the finals on Saturday, including
LaChristopher Smith in the 60m and 200m as Caleb Simon advanced in the 400m. Smith posted the second fastest time in the 60m (6.89 seconds) while finishing third in the 200m (22.21 seconds). In the 400m, Simons was fifth overall with a time of 50.55 seconds.
In the field events, Kimber DePree earned five points for the Mountain Lions in the long jump after finishing in fourth place with a leap of 6.90m. Teammate
Anthony Peters took seventh in the event, earning two points with a jump of 6.62m. In the pole vault,
Brenton Emmons and
Kyle Rex finished tied for seventh after clearing 4.47m. The duo each earned 1.5 points for UCCS.
The distance medley relay team of William Moore, Dustin HItt, Ryan Vomack, and
David Kimaiyo ran their way to a seventh place finish with a time of 10:38.38.
In all, the Mountain Lions totaled 12 points in the first day of action.
The RMAC Championships resume Saturday morning at 8:30 a.m.
