Women's Track & Field Opens Season With Stellar Performances

UCCS began their season with multiple provisional qualifying marks in their first weekend of action

ALAMOSA, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's indoor track and field team started their season in impressive fashion as they saw Skylyn Webb and Kaija Crowe earn NCAA Division II provisional qualifying marks.

Webb, who competed at both the Mines Alumni Classic & Multi and Adams State's Early Grizzly Open, ran her way to provisional times in the 800m (2:09.88) and 400m (56.13) as she won both events for the Mountain Lions. Her 800m time is a new program record.

In both events, Webb's times currently ranks her second in all of Division II.

Crowe also earned a provisional mark in the pentathlon with a total of 3,533 points. Nationally, Crowe's points total in the event ranks fifth in Division II.

Sprinter Nicole Morpurgo took first place in the 200m with a time of 26.02 seconds.

As a team, UCCS unofficially took first place at the competitive meet at Adams State, which are the defending NCAA Division II Indoor national champions.

Other top performances included Kayla Zink placing third in the 60m, Celia Smith taking second in the high jump, and Hannah Meek leaping to second place in the long jump.
